Wisconsin Residential Fire Sprinkler Coalition Hosting Educational Summit

WI Residential Fire Sprinkler Coalition

On June 2, 2011, the Wisconsin Residential Fire Sprinkler Coalition (WRFSC) will be hosting a residential fire sprinkler summit.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, there were 1,348,500 fires reported in the United States in 2009, resulting in 3,010 civilian fire deaths. An estimated 78.5 percent of structure fires were residential, in which 272,500 occurred in one- and two-family homes. Approximately 85 percent of all fire deaths occur in the home, where people feel safest.

With these statistics, the WRFSC recognizes the importance of educating members of the fire service, building inspectors, local officials and other stakeholders about the life-saving benefits of residential fire sprinklers.

The daylong educational opportunity will provide attendees with educational resources and information about residential fire sprinklers and how they work, as well as help them understand the added life safety fire sprinklers provide in homes for both the occupants and responding firefighters. A live side-by-side demonstration will be performed to conclude the day. The summit will be held at the Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC), 800 Main Street in Pewaukee, Room B-140. There is a $10 fee to cover the cost of lunch.

Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) are available to designated license holders.
