Participation in Second Annual Residential Fire Sprinkler Summit Is a Success

Rich Walke with Underwriters Laboratories spoke with attendees about the importance of residential fire sprinklers and today’s homes built with lightweight construction.

The Wisconsin Residential Fire Sprinkler Coalition (WRFSC) hosted its Second Annual Fire Sprinkler Summit in May, providing a full day of fire sprinkler education. “It was another success this year with more than double the attendees when compared to last year. It was great to see more interest,” says Thomas Clark, WRFSC Chairperson and President of the Wisconsin State Fire Inspectors Association.

Speakers from around the country provided information on the current state of the industry, home fire sprinkler educational resources, and the impact on taxpayers when homes are not protected with fire sprinklers. One speaker, who is a burn survivor, and his mother discussed the human toll that a fire tragedy brings to those with burn injuries and their families.

The Wisconsin Residential Fire Sprinkler Coalition is dedicated to providing factual information and education to the building industry, municipal leaders, state legislators, fire service and Wisconsin residents on the benefits of residential fire sprinkler protection.

“The educational component of our mission is beginning to make a difference in our communities,” notes Clark.

Plans are underway for next year’s Summit. Check back on on the Training and Education page of the NFSA-WI website.
