Attend the Silver Anniversary of the Burn Center Golf Invitational

The 25th Annual Burn Center Golf Invitational (BCGI) will be held August 26, 2013. This year’s outing will be played for the 20th straight year at the Championship Brute Course of the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva. The golf outing and evening program are presented by the Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety (WAFS), assisted by the Columbia St Mary’s Foundation and sponsored by the Midwest Fire Sprinkler Industries and Milwaukee Fire Department.

Last year’s event raised $55,000 and brought the 24-year total for the BCGI to a benchmark $1,980,000. All proceeds directly go WAFS charities: Columbia-St. Mary’s Regional Burn Center, WAFS Summer Camp for Burn Injured Youths, Newspapers in Education Fire Safety Program, and other WAFS programming.

Not many golf events reach a milestone of twenty-five years with the success that the BCGI has since 1989. Throughout the history of the event, more than $1,500,000 has gone to support burn injured survivors as they ordeal their pain in the burn unit. State-of-the-art equipment has been purchased with some of the funds and in the near past, monies have been dedicated to the construction of the burn unit in the new hospital. All 18 WAFS camps for burn injured children have been supported by contributions from the generous participants and contributors.

As in the past, 2013 sponsors will be given wonderful recognition remembrances of their gracious support. New incentives to entice early commitment are believed to help gather new sponsors. Awards will also be given for winners on the course for total scores and special events. WAFS looks to August in great anticipation for a wonderful event that does so much good.

Sponsors, participants, raffle items and auction items are needed to ensure another memorable event. If you can help with any of the above, please contact Chair Dan Gengler at (262) 325-1958 or visit the Burn Center Golf Invitational’s website.
