Gengler Rejoins NFSA-WI as Regional Manager

In January 2014, the National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA) reappointed Dan Gengler to fill the position of regional manager for Wisconsin.

Gengler is returning to the position he held for 11 years when he was the NFSA regional manager for the midwest area.

His responsibilities will include educating the public and fire service about automatic fire sprinklers; facilitating the continuing fire sprinkler education of members of the fire sprinkler industry, the fire service and code officials; member recruitment; and responding to legislative issues.

Gengler started his career with NFSA after retiring as the deputy fire chief from a 26-and-a-half year career with the Milwaukee Fire Department. It was his experience with the tragedies of fire that motivated him to pursue a second career in what he still believes will ultimately reduce the incidents of life and property loss.

Gengler has been the Chairperson for the Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety (WAFS) for all of its 23 years of existence and has also served 23 years as chair of the Burn Center Golf Invitational, a golf outing that has raised more than $2,055,000 benefiting the Columbia St. Mary’s Regional Burn Center and WAFS programming.

In his WAFS position, he has helped foster fire and burn prevention with programming statewide with the nationally recognized, sixteen-year-old Newspapers in Education – Fire Safety Project and the internationally twice-honored fire safety video, “A Burning Issue: Is Your Family Safe?” He helped facilitate the development of the WAFS-funded “Brecker Bunny Learns to be Careful!: A Lesson in Fire and Burn Safety” book and its delvery to Wisconsin licensed daycare facilities with the assistance of many members of the Wisconsin State Fire Inspectors Association. Gengler was the catalyst for the creation of the WAFS Summer Camp for Burn Injured Youth, a.k.a. Burn Camp, celebrating its twentieth camp in August 2014.

Dan also serves as president of DanMar Consulting Ltd., a company advising fire and burn safety.

“I’m happy to once again serve as the regional manager for the Wisconsin Chapter of the NFSA. Together, we can increase fire sprinkler awareness and education and create a more fire-safe Wisconsin,” says Gengler.
