Gengler: Sprinkler Systems Limit Losses, Injuries in Fires

On August 17, a Letter to the Editor submitted by Dan Gengler, regional manager for the Wisconsin Chapter of the National Fire Sprinkler Association appeared in The Cap Times newspaper in Madison:

“Some may not be aware that a fire broke out in a two-story, multiple-family structure in Madison July 27, and there is a good reason for that: None was injured and, relatively speaking, there was limited damage. The fire was promptly extinguished thanks to a properly installed and well-maintained fire sprinkler system. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the sprinkler head closest to the flames had been activated and had already doused most of the fire. This recent event is an example of how the risks to brave first responders and firefighters are often mitigated in structures that feature fire sprinkler systems.”
